Vanilla Cinnamon Milk Tea is a comforting and aromatic beverage combining the warm spice of cinnamon with the sweet softness of vanilla. It features a creamy milk base infused with cinnamon, vanilla, and optionally black tea and star anise, then sweetened to taste. Perfect served hot for cozy moments or iced for a refreshing treat.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)

Spices and Flavorings

  • 4 cinnamon sticks or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 vanilla beans (split and scraped) or 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 star anises (optional)

Tea (Optional)

  • 4 teaspoons loose-leaf black tea or 4 black tea bags

Sweetener

  • Honey or sweetener of choice to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the Water: Bring 2 cups of water to a full boil in a small pot to prepare for steeping the spices and vanilla.
  2. Add the Cinnamon and Vanilla: Add cinnamon sticks and vanilla beans to the boiling water, remove from heat, cover the pot, and steep for flavor infusion. If using ground cinnamon and vanilla extract, add them directly without steeping. Add star anise if desired.
  3. Let It Steep: Allow the mixture to steep for 10 minutes to extract all the flavors from the cinnamon and vanilla.
  4. Add the Black Tea (Optional): If desired, add loose-leaf black tea or tea bags and steep for an additional 5 minutes for a stronger tea base.
  5. Heat the Milk: Warm 2 cups of milk in a separate pot over low to medium heat until steaming but not boiling.
  6. Combine the Infusion and Milk: Strain the cinnamon-vanilla tea mixture through a fine mesh strainer into the warm milk and stir to combine well.
  7. Sweeten to Taste: Stir in honey or your chosen sweetener until fully dissolved, adjusting sweetness as preferred.
  8. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the milk tea hot in mugs for a cozy drink or chill and pour over ice for a refreshing cold beverage.

Notes

  • Use cinnamon sticks for a delicate spice flavor or ground cinnamon for a quicker, stronger infusion.
  • Vanilla beans offer richer flavor than extract but take more prep time.
  • Star anise adds a unique licorice note; omit if you prefer a simpler taste.
  • Black tea can be omitted for a caffeine-free cinnamon vanilla milk drink.
  • Warm milk gently to avoid curdling and preserve smoothness.
  • Adjust sweetness according to preference, with options including honey, sugar, or sugar substitutes.
  • Serve iced by chilling the mixture and pouring over ice for a refreshing variation.
