Ingredients
Ginger Sage Simple Syrup
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
5 cubes frozen ginger
4-5 sage leaves
Bourbon Pear Spritzer
1 ½ oz bourbon
2 oz fresh pear juice
2 oz ginger ale
1 tbsp ginger sage simple syrup
1 pear (for garnish)
Sage leaves (for garnish)
Instructions
Make the Ginger Sage Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, 5 frozen ginger cubes, and 4-5 sage leaves. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely. Let it simmer gently for about 5-7 minutes to infuse the flavors, then remove from heat. Allow it to cool before straining out the solids.
Prepare the Pear Juice: If not using store-bought, juice fresh pears until you have 2 ounces of fresh pear juice per spritzer. Strain if necessary to remove pulp for a smooth drink.
Mix the Spritzer: In a glass, combine 1 ½ ounces bourbon, 2 ounces fresh pear juice, 1 tablespoon of the cooled ginger sage simple syrup, and 2 ounces ginger ale. Stir gently to combine all ingredients evenly.
Garnish and Serve: Slice a fresh pear thinly and add a few sage leaves as a garnish. Serve the spritzer chilled over ice for a refreshing seasonal cocktail.
Notes
For a non-alcoholic version, omit bourbon and add extra ginger ale or sparkling water.
The ginger sage simple syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Fresh pear juice works best when pears are ripe and juicy for maximum flavor.
Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of simple syrup according to taste.
Use fresh sage leaves rather than dried for the best herbal flavor.
