A flavorful keto-friendly take on the classic beef and broccoli dish, featuring tender flank steak and crisp broccoli cooked slowly in a savory sauce made with soy sauce, beef broth, and sesame oil. Perfect for a low-carb dinner that's both satisfying and easy to prepare using a crockpot.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs flank steak, sliced thinly
  • 2 cups broccoli florets

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp erythritol or preferred sweetener (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: Thinly slice 1.5 lbs of flank steak and place it into the crockpot, spreading it in an even layer.
  2. Mix the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup soy sauce or coconut aminos, 1/4 cup beef broth, 2 tablespoons sesame oil, 2 minced garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon minced ginger, 1 tablespoon erythritol (optional), and salt and pepper to taste until well combined.
  3. Combine and Cook: Pour the prepared sauce over the beef in the crockpot and stir gently to combine all ingredients evenly.
  4. Cook the Beef: Cover the crockpot and cook on low heat for 6 hours for tender, flavorful meat; alternatively, cook on high heat for 3 hours if short on time.
  5. Add Broccoli: Approximately 30 minutes before the end of cooking, add 2 cups of broccoli florets to the crockpot, stirring them into the beef and sauce.
  6. Finish and Serve: Once cooking is complete, serve the beef and broccoli hot, garnished with sesame seeds for added texture and flavor.

Notes

  • For an even lower sodium version, use low-sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos.
  • Erythritol is optional; omit or substitute with another keto-friendly sweetener if preferred.
  • Broccoli can be substituted with other keto-friendly vegetables like cauliflower or snap peas.
  • Make sure to slice the flank steak thinly against the grain for the most tender results.
  • If you don’t have a crockpot, the dish can also be prepared on the stovetop by simmering on low heat for 1 to 1.5 hours until tender.
