This Instant Pot Apple Sauce recipe offers a quick and easy way to make homemade apple sauce using Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples, cinnamon, and a touch of cane sugar. It is perfect as a snack or a side dish and can be enjoyed warm or chilled.

Ingredients

Apples

  • 2 lbs. Granny Smith apples
  • 2 lbs. Honeycrisp apples

Other Ingredients

  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 tablespoons organic cane sugar
  • 3/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples: Peel the apples, remove their cores, and chop them into small pieces to ensure even cooking.
  2. Add ingredients to the Instant Pot: Place the chopped apples, water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks into the Instant Pot and stir gently to combine all ingredients.
  3. Pressure cook: Seal the vent and set the Instant Pot to pressure cook on high for 8 minutes. Once cooking is finished, perform a quick release to release the steam safely.
  4. Blend the apple sauce: Use an immersion blender directly in the pot to puree the apple mixture until you reach your desired consistency, whether smooth or slightly chunky.
  5. Serve: Serve the apple sauce warm right away or refrigerate and enjoy chilled later as preferred.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of cane sugar based on your sweetness preference or the tartness of the apples.
  • You can substitute other apple varieties if desired but maintain the total weight of 4 lbs.
  • To make the apple sauce smoother, blend for a longer time using the immersion blender.
  • The apple sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a thicker sauce, allow it to cool uncovered in the fridge to let excess moisture evaporate slightly.
