A refreshing and vibrant iced matcha latte made with finely whisked matcha powder, your choice of milk, and a touch of natural sweetener. Perfect for a cool, energizing drink with a delicate green tea flavor and creamy texture.

Ingredients

Matcha Mixture

  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sweetener (honey, maple syrup, agave, or sugar)

Main Drink

  • 1 cup milk (dairy milk, almond milk, oat milk, or any milk of your choice)
  • Ice cubes (as needed)
  • Mint leaf, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare matcha paste: In a bowl, whisk the matcha powder with warm water until it forms a smooth paste without any lumps, ensuring a creamy and vibrant base.
  2. Add sweetener: Stir the sweetener into the matcha paste until fully combined for a balanced sweetness.
  3. Fill glass with ice: Take a separate glass and add ice cubes to your desired level, providing the chilled element for the latte.
  4. Pour milk over ice: Pour the chilled milk into the glass gently over the ice cubes to keep everything cool and fresh.
  5. Add matcha mixture: Slowly pour the matcha mixture over the milk, allowing it to cascade and create a layered, visually appealing effect.
  6. Mix gently: Stir the iced matcha latte gently with a spoon to combine the matcha and milk while maintaining its frothy texture.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle a pinch of matcha powder on top and add a fresh mint leaf for an elegant and aromatic finishing touch before serving.

Notes

  • Use freshly sifted matcha powder to avoid clumps and enhance smoothness.
  • Adjust sweetener quantity to your taste preference or omit for a lower sugar version.
  • For a vegan option, choose plant-based milk such as almond, oat, or soy milk.
  • Use cold milk and plenty of ice cubes to keep the drink refreshingly chilled.
  • To intensify the matcha flavor, you can add an extra half teaspoon of matcha powder.
  • Whisking the matcha paste with a bamboo whisk (chasen) enhances texture and flavor but a small regular whisk or fork works as well.
