Ingredients
Tea Base
4 cups water
2 black or green tea bags or 1 tablespoon loose leaf tea
Blueberry Mixture
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
Juice of 2 lemons
Zest of 1 lemon
Sweetener & Garnishes
2-3 tablespoons honey or sugar
Ice cubes
Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Lemon slices for garnish (optional)
Extra blueberries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Boil the Water: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium-sized pot to prepare the tea base.
Brew the Tea: Remove the pot from heat and add the tea bags or loose leaf tea. Let steep for 5 minutes to ensure a full-flavored brew, then remove the tea bags or strain the loose leaves. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
Prepare the Blueberry Mixture: While the tea cools, combine blueberries, lemon juice, and lemon zest in a small bowl. Gently mash the blueberries with a fork or muddler to release their juices and blend the flavors.
Sweeten the Tea: Stir honey or sugar into the warm tea until fully dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness according to preference.
Combine the Tea and Blueberry Mixture: Once the tea has cooled, add the blueberry-lemon mixture and stir well to combine all flavors evenly.
Chill the Tea: Refrigerate the combined tea until thoroughly chilled, about 1 hour, or serve immediately over ice cubes if preferred.
Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled Blueberry Tea Lemonade over the ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves, lemon slices, and extra blueberries if desired.
Enjoy: Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing and vibrant Blueberry Tea Lemonade.
Notes
For a stronger tea flavor, steep the tea for the full 5 minutes or slightly longer.
Adjust sweetness according to dietary preferences or substitute honey with agave syrup for a vegan option.
Use fresh or frozen blueberries depending on availability; frozen work well and add natural cooling.
Make sure to chill the tea thoroughly before serving with ice to avoid dilution.
Optional garnishes add visual appeal and extra freshness but can be omitted if unavailable.
