A refreshing and flavorful Blueberry Tea Lemonade combining the sweetness of honey, tartness of lemon, and antioxidant-rich blueberries with brewed black or green tea, perfect for a cooling drink on warm days.

Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 black or green tea bags or 1 tablespoon loose leaf tea

Blueberry Mixture

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • Zest of 1 lemon

Sweetener & Garnishes

  • 2-3 tablespoons honey or sugar
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon slices for garnish (optional)
  • Extra blueberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil the Water: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium-sized pot to prepare the tea base.
  2. Brew the Tea: Remove the pot from heat and add the tea bags or loose leaf tea. Let steep for 5 minutes to ensure a full-flavored brew, then remove the tea bags or strain the loose leaves. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
  3. Prepare the Blueberry Mixture: While the tea cools, combine blueberries, lemon juice, and lemon zest in a small bowl. Gently mash the blueberries with a fork or muddler to release their juices and blend the flavors.
  4. Sweeten the Tea: Stir honey or sugar into the warm tea until fully dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness according to preference.
  5. Combine the Tea and Blueberry Mixture: Once the tea has cooled, add the blueberry-lemon mixture and stir well to combine all flavors evenly.
  6. Chill the Tea: Refrigerate the combined tea until thoroughly chilled, about 1 hour, or serve immediately over ice cubes if preferred.
  7. Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled Blueberry Tea Lemonade over the ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves, lemon slices, and extra blueberries if desired.
  8. Enjoy: Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing and vibrant Blueberry Tea Lemonade.

Notes

  • For a stronger tea flavor, steep the tea for the full 5 minutes or slightly longer.
  • Adjust sweetness according to dietary preferences or substitute honey with agave syrup for a vegan option.
  • Use fresh or frozen blueberries depending on availability; frozen work well and add natural cooling.
  • Make sure to chill the tea thoroughly before serving with ice to avoid dilution.
  • Optional garnishes add visual appeal and extra freshness but can be omitted if unavailable.
