Antipasto Skewers are a quick and easy appetizer combining cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls, salami, olives, and fresh basil on wooden skewers, drizzled with balsamic glaze for a burst of vibrant Mediterranean flavors.

Ingredients

Antipasto Skewers

  • 12 wooden skewers or toothpicks
  • 12 cherry tomatoes
  • 12 small mozzarella balls (bocconcini)
  • 12 slices of salami or pepperoni (folded)
  • 12 olives (green or black)
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional)
  • Balsamic glaze for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the skewers: Gather all the ingredients and the wooden skewers or toothpicks to start assembling your antipasto skewers.
  2. Assemble the ingredients: On each skewer, thread one cherry tomato, followed by a mozzarella ball, then a folded slice of salami or pepperoni, an olive, and finish with a fresh basil leaf if using.
  3. Repeat assembly: Continue threading the ingredients on the remaining skewers until all are assembled and all ingredients are used.
  4. Arrange for serving: Place the completed skewers neatly on a serving platter, ready to be enjoyed.
  5. Add finishing touch: Drizzle balsamic glaze over the skewers for an optional sweet and tangy flavor enhancement, then serve immediately to enjoy fresh.

Notes

  • Use wooden skewers or toothpicks to make the assembly effortless and convenient for guests to pick up.
  • Substitute salami or pepperoni with prosciutto or chorizo for different flavor profiles.
  • The balsamic glaze adds a nice sweetness but can be omitted if you prefer a lighter appetizer.
  • Keep the skewers refrigerated until ready to serve to maintain freshness.
  • You can customize olives according to preference, such as stuffed or plain olives.
